Applying for jobs

How can I spot a fake job listing?

Treat any request for money as disqualifying — no genuine UK employer charges to apply, train, or start. Other warning signs are interviews held only over chat apps, an offer made without a real interview, a salary far above the market rate, and email addresses that do not use the company's own domain.

Verify the employer independently before sharing personal details. Search the company name with Companies House, and check the role also appears on their own careers page.

Never send bank details, passport scans, or National Insurance numbers before you have a signed offer from a verified employer.

BoQQs links every listing to its source so you can check the original posting yourself. If something looks wrong, email us and we will investigate.
