Private Client Solicitor – Plymouth
An established and highly regarded South West law firm is looking to strengthen its Private Client team in Plymouth with the appointment of an experienced Private Client Solicitor, Senior Associate, Legal Executive, Legal Director or Partner.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Private Client Lawyer who wants high-quality work, genuine career progression and the flexibility of hybrid working.
The role offers considerable autonomy and, for the right senior candidate, the opportunity to develop a team, strengthen existing client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the Private Client department.
About the Private Client role
You will join an established Wills, Probate and Private Client team with a strong reputation throughout Plymouth, Devon and the wider South West.
The department benefits from a loyal client base and a steady flow of referrals, providing an excellent platform for an ambitious Lawyer looking to develop their career.
Your caseload will include a broad range of private client and wealth management matters including:
- Wills and Will drafting
- Estate planning and succession planning
- Probate and estate administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Trusts and trust administration
- Inheritance tax and tax planning
- Wealth preservation
- High-net-worth and complex private client matters
- Advising individuals, families and business owners
The exact level of responsibility will depend on your experience and seniority.
For candidates operating at Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner level, there is scope to take a more prominent role in client development, mentoring junior lawyers, business development and growing the wider Private Client practice.
You will also have access to strong administrative and paralegal support.
What are we looking for?
We are keen to speak with Private Client Solicitors and Lawyers at a range of levels, from experienced fee earners through to senior practitioners and Partners.
Ideally, you will have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor or CILEX Legal Executive
- Strong experience within Private Client law
- A solid background in Wills, Probate, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Experience advising clients on estate planning and wealth preservation
- Excellent technical knowledge and client-care skills
- A commercial and proactive approach
- The ability to manage your own caseload and develop strong client relationships
STEP qualification or membership would be advantageous, although support may be available for the right candidate.
Applications are particularly welcomed from Senior Associates, Legal Directors and Partners who are interested in a role offering greater responsibility and long-term progression.
Salary, benefits and flexibility
The firm offers a competitive package designed to attract and retain experienced Private Client professionals, including:
- Competitive salary based on experience and seniority
- Bonus scheme not directly linked to billable hours
- Hybrid working – typically around 2-3 days in the office
- Flexible working arrangements
- Part-time and flexible hours considered
- 25 days' annual leave
- Birthday day off
- Christmas office closure
- Private healthcare
- Wellbeing support
- Pension scheme
- Annual salary reviews
- Full administrative and paralegal support
