Are BoQQs's pay calculators accurate?
The calculators apply current HMRC income tax and National Insurance thresholds, NHS Agenda for Change pay scales, and NHS pension contribution tiers for the 2026/27 tax year. They model basic contracted pay only. Overtime, unsocial hours, bank shifts, and student loan repayments are not included.
The NHS take-home calculator deducts pension before income tax but not before National Insurance, which is how the net pay arrangement actually works and the most common error in comparable tools.
Scotland sets its own income tax rates, and Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland run separate Agenda for Change scales. The figures shown are for England.
Your payslip or ESR record is the authoritative figure. Use these as a guide, not a substitute.
