We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic registered nurse with substantial community nursing experience to join our highly valued District Nursing team in a permanent Band 6 role. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient-centred care in the community and is looking to further develop their leadership, assessment, and clinical decision-making skills.
The service operates 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, and requires flexibility to work a rotational shift pattern. Base location and working hours will be discussed at interview.
We support flexible working wherever possible, promoting work-life balance while delivering high-quality patient care.
Community nursing experience is essential.
Full UK driving Licence, with access to a vehicle is essential
The Senior Nurse supports the Clinical Team Leader in coordinating and delivering high-quality care in line with national and local District Nursing priorities. The role includes assessing new and complex patients and completing comprehensive Senior Nurse Reviews in patients' homes and other community settings. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and personalised care.
A key aspect of the role is supporting students and newly appointed staff, contributing to their learning and development, and helping to build a confident, skilled team through effective leadership and positive role modelling. You will also oversee staffing rotas, allocate clinical work, and maintain clear, compassionate communication with colleagues, patients, and families.
The post includes participation in the District Nursing Hub, providing weekend, evening, and bank holiday cover on a rotational basis. You must be able to work contracted hours flexibly across both day and night shifts to meet service needs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong professional leadership and a genuine commitment to excellent patient care. You will need to be confident in problem-solving, adaptable in challenging situations, and capable of managing resources effectively. A dedication to high-quality care, along with the confidence to positively challenge practice to maintain patient and staff safety, is essential.
